Family at Twycross Zoo come face to face with a Critically Endangered Sumatran tiger - Morgan Cartlidge
CONSERVATION STRATEGY HIGHLIGHTS
In 2025, we made strong progress across every area of our Conservation Strategy.
We continued our daily care for our 82 species, of which 59 are part of EAZA
Ex situ Programmes (EEPs), supporting our Goal One targets.
We also partnered with the University of Derby to develop non-invasive sampling methods for West African
chimpanzees in Guinea-Bissau, contributing to Goal Two. Our teams worked alongside conservation
partners in Ghana to train veterinarians and students, improving primate care and rehabilitation as part
of Goal Three. Closer to home, we achieved a reach of 昀椀ve billion with our conservation focused PR as
part of Goal Four, worked with local partners to successfully reintroduce hazel dormice into the wild
in Leicestershire supporting Goal Five, and made meaningful strides in reducing our carbon footprint,
aligned to Goal Six. Taken together, 2025 has been a year of real action and progress for Twycross Zoo.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for your continued support as we work towards our vision of being
a global force in biodiversity conservation.
